Our Story

Meet Sally
Founder of Simplify It Tutoring

I’m Sally Kraus, former classroom teacher, founder of Simplify It Tutoring, and a mom who has been deep in the homework struggle. For me, it started with a frustrated son and some math homework.

If you’re watching your student shut down over schoolwork, dreading homework time, or quietly panicking about grades and high-stakes exams, you’re not alone. I’ve seen this struggle from every angle: in my classroom, in hundreds of students I’ve tutored, and in my own home.

When my son hit Pre-Algebra, confidence disappeared fast. Homework turned into nightly frustration, and math started to feel personal. He began to believe he “just wasn’t a math kid.” I refused to accept that label. And spoiler alert: he eventually rejected it, too.

With the right explanations, the right pacing, and support that actually made sense to him, everything changed.

One day he said the words every parent hopes to hear:

“Wait… I can actually do this.”

That moment is why Simplify It Tutoring exists.

I sought out other classroom-veteran tutors whose first love is their subject of choice, followed closely by unlocking that "Wait...I can actually do this" moment for students.

Over the past decade, Simplify It has grown from just Algebra (my personal favorite subject) to Elementary through College math, ELA, Test Prep, and Spanish! This team of expert tutors offers a wider range of "Aha" moments than I could ever do alone, and ensures that no matter which subject is giving your student the urge to eat their own homework, you can be confident that it can be Made. Simple.

Algebra

Where Simplify It Began

Algebra is where many students hit their first real academic wall, and where confidence either collapses or gets rebuilt. It’s the class that convinces too many kids they’re “bad at math,” when in reality they’re simply missing clarity and support.

Our Algebra 1 EOC Crash Course has helped students pass Florida’s state-mandated Algebra 1 End of Course exam ON THE FIRST TRY 94% of the time, compared to the Florida state average of less than 50% for first-time test takers.

I’ve worked with hundreds of Algebra students, and I can say this with confidence:

I have yet to meet a student who cannot do Algebra.
They may not understand it yet, but they absolutely can learn it.

We Expanded Because Parents Asked...

And Trusted Us!

Because parents kept asking for the same clear, confidence-building support beyond Algebra, we expanded in 2024.

Today, Simplify It Tutoring supports students through live, online lessons only, delivered by Florida-based educators located throughout the state. This allows families anywhere in Florida to work with the right teacher, not just the closest one.

We now offer support across:

  • K–12 Math (including SAT prep and college Calculus)

  • K-12 ELA (Kindergarten through SAT prep, including early Reading and Phonics)

  • Spanish (all levels)

We’re proud to have a team of Florida-certified teachers, each tutoring only the subjects they truly love and specialize in, because enthusiasm, clarity, and expertise matter.

We’re also a Step Up for Students scholarship approved provider, so families using scholarship funds can work with us confidently.

What We Really Care About

And What We Don't.

Our goal isn’t to make your student love Algebra or whatever subject where there is struggle (we’re realistic, it’s not a video game).

Our goal is to help your student feel capable, steady, and victorious whether they’re tackling Algebra, another math class, early reading and phonics, ELA, or Spanish. We want to bring peace back to your evenings.

Parents often tell us the biggest change isn’t just grades.
It’s fewer tears. Less tension. More “I’ve got this.”

That’s the win we’re after.

We’re a Great Fit for Families Who…

  • Have a child who is struggling and losing confidence

  • Are exhausted by nightly homework stress and frustration

  • Want real teachers, not quick-fix programs or worksheets

  • Need support for early readers, ESE students, or learning gaps

  • Have an advanced student who isn’t being challenged enough

  • Value clear communication, structure, and measurable progress

  • Want a tutor who teaches in a way that actually makes sense

We May Not Be the Best Fit If…

  • You’re looking for last-minute homework answers

  • You want tutoring without parent communication or follow-through

  • You’re seeking a one-size-fits-all program

Ready to Get Started?

Let's Take the Next Steps Together.

If you’re ready to replace stress with confidence, and hear your student say “I’ve got this!” we’d love to help.
